Daily Dish: Tres Tontos (Part 2)- Canadian Junior Hockey News

Do you watch Netflix? We do. Amazon Prime as well. When the workday is done, our family tends to enjoy one series or another. During the quarantine, we knocked off Grey’s Anatomy and several Spanish language telenovelas. Telenovelas are often fashioned after English daytime television series. The exception is that they run between 40-70 episodes and have a conclusion. There are subtitles for us English speaking folks, so it is a great way to also pick up on Spanish.

The season came to a close for one of the tres tontos, the other two are getting ready for the playoffs.

Del Rio Bravos
“No Larry, you can’t both own and coach your team, especially after the antics displayed this season.” the league commissioner told the new team owner. “I get it, I’m not going to coach,” the team owner/coach/GM answered. “Can we just communicate with the bench coaches from the beer garden?”

Brokeback Mountain Harriers
As practice was finishing and team was skating off the ice, the captain skated to the coach and said, “Hey coach, we’re going to Delicias for lunch and a few soft drinks, you are coming?” Just last week that one beer turned into three then five. “I’m still recovering from the last lunch with you donkeys, have to give the liver a break for a few weeks."

“We have won 38 straight games and 39 of 40 overall for the season,” the coach told his captain. “We don’t want to mess with the culture, so make sure everyone makes it to Maddie’s house tonight for the party,” the coach told his captain.

Anaconda Copperheads
“Let me off in front of the rink,” the garbage man told the driver as they approached to arena. “It’s not like these idiots can win anything,” he cracked as closing the door.

The boys were messing around on the ice for fifteen minutes before the coach finally showed up. “Coach, there’s a hole in the ice along the far boards, that’s going to have to get fixed before tomorrow’s game,” one of the players told the coach. “That’s not any of your concern,” the garbage man/coach told the player.

“Boys, wrap it up and get out of that gear, we are going sledding for the rest of practice,” the coach addressed the team as he walked off the ice.

Tres Tontos is a fictional tale based on various junior hockey experiences. The story's described conversations, that may resemble reality, is purely coincidental.
